Artist Spotlight Volume 2: Badio

When a breathe of fresh air isn't enough to satisfy, when the essence of hip-hop is at it's least, you can only hope to discover and experience a new style. Many have tried displaying a combination of witty lines and confidence fortified by a serious delivery. NO ONE has mastered this like BADIO. Using inspiration from his childhood experience in a third world which has been considered one of the most dangerous places in the world, Badio incorporates the harsh realities of his past in Liberia and he also compliments his present space. The African knows what he stands for and he represents everything that he is and everything that he has become. Badio "The African" represents the kick pushers, the rebellious chain smoking teens, the fly mobsters with intelligence, Badio simply represents our generation. He is currently plotting on storming the industry. He is simply a fresh gem, nothing more.

Another Touch My Body Remix

R.I.P. Sean Bell

The emails went out that everyone should wear all black today, Monday April 28th, in the memory of Sean Bell. I don't know if it even makes sense to do because nothing is gonna change but whatever. I'm just passing the word along.
Incarcerated Mobb Deep member Prodigy had this to say via his publicist earlier today:

“First of all, rest in peace to Sean Bell and I want to send my condolences to his wife, kids, family and friends and all the Sean Bell boys - Hold your head.

We lost alot of battles but we will win the war. The decision in the Queens courtroom on Friday, April 25 was simply a display of power. The NYPD is just a branch of corruption connected to a giant corrupt tree called the United States government. This tyrannical corrupt tree has its roots planted deep into the United Kingdom.

The Sean Bell murder coverup is less about race and more about power. This evil family tree of corruption will do whatever it takes to remain in a position of power. They will put a judge who they can control on the case, in order to get the outcome they want and eliminate the risk of being exposed and exposing the higher ups. I want to be very clear that all judges, DAs, lawyers, cops are not corrupt, just most of them.

People of all races need to come together to control our government and run a giant comb through it, so we can see the filth that comes out. Right now we have a government that controls the people, instead of people that control their government. Until we can do that, there’ll be several more incidents like the murder of Sean Bell.

America is under a spell and we need to snap out of it.”

P's publicist also represents Queens rapper Cormega who had this to say:

"The Sean Bell murder itself was a reflection of how expendable black men are In the eyes of many.

The verdict was a far worse crime because it stripped a dead man of his rights and it stripped a community of hope. We came so far as a people yet gained little momentum but I would like to thank society for re opening my eyes to the myth called equality and the justice that eludes just us! Power to the People!”

Clearly both Mega & P have strong feelings about this situation. Their comments are a little on the extreme side but their right, something must be done about police corruption in New York City. It is not just an issue for African Americans, but for all races and ethnicities.

Tomorrow, The Game Will Be Releasing A Track Called "911 Is A Joke" Addressing This Situation But Here's Grafh's Take To Hold Everyone Over Until Then...

Artist Spotlight Volume 1: The Kid Famous...

What began as a dream became a reality in early 2003 when Ashton Bishop made the switch from business man to BUSINESS Maaaaaan. After getting his start at Universal Music/Def Jam and later helping with the creative development of SonyBMG artists such as Bow Wow (Wanted), Ciara (Goodies), Wyclef Jean (Creole 101) and Canada's own Keshia Chante, this suburban hustler has learnt the inner workings of the music industry while making some major contacts along the way. His time working behind the scenes only benefits his career and if you can imagine working at Champs Sports as "Ashton" (where nobody has any idea your an MC) then flying to NY as "Famous" to meet industry bosses like Jameel Spencer (Bad Boy), Caresse Henry Norman (Madonna) and Damon Dash (Dame Dash Music Group), then you can see why this regular kid can only appreciate where he's been and where he's heading.

While interviewing Memphis Bleek (ROC), writing reviews for artists such as Yung Joc and Cassie as well as hosting some of Toronto's hottest jams, Ashton has also developed "Famous" into an on-air personality that can now be heard on Toronto's Hip Hop & R&B radio station FLOW 93.5 FM. His own segment 60 Seconds of Fame can be heard exclusively on OTA Live, Canadas most popular Hip Hop radio show. With a fanbase of almost 500,000 listeners, an e-mail list of over 100, 000 people and a blog/MySpace page which generates more then 10,000 hits daily, this honour role college graduate has taken the proper steps needed to achieve commercial success in the Rap game. He is presently working on his debut solo project which will feature production from NY's The Narcotics (Kanye West, Teairra Marie, Jay-Z), Dre (Freeway, LL Cool J), Nicolay (Foreign Exchange), Major Music (Mobb Deep) and Toronto's own LuWop (Rochester, Ken Masters). A video for his 1st single "Ain't No Use" is presently in the works and is being directed by Little X prodigy R.T.
